Dual-sport sophomore ends her run with plenty of awards
Madi Davis leaves Moraine Valley with a resume full of honors and awards for not only her action on the fields in soccer and softball but also for her work in the classroom.
Call out for golfers
Cyclone men's golf still has room for some additional teammates to join in the 2023 season.
Cyclones earn NJCAA academic awards
Moraine Valley student-athletes not only demonstrated their athletic skills, but also their intelligence in the classroom this past year. Among nearly 60,000 student-athletes who compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), 24 Moraine Valley student-athletes were recognized with the 2023-20 Academic Student-Athlete Award and four teams earned Academic Team of the Year.
Q & A with General McArthur III
When student-athletes need to make sure they are on track academically, are eligible to play their sport and have the required courses to transfer to a four-year college or university, they talk to General McArthur III, athletic student success specialist. Get to know General.

We are the champions!
After a one-year hiatus, Moraine Valley brought back home the 2023-20 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference All-Sports trophy.
Sophomore Send-off: Men’s soccer
The sophomores from the 2023 soccer team have plenty to be proud of. They ended the fall season with an overall 16-5 record and went 6-1 in conference for a co-championship. They tallied 64 goals overall and averaged 3.05 goals per game and 15.6 shots per game. Several players earned honors. A number of sophomores are continuing their education and some will continue to play soccer. Head Coach Chris Koloffon has some things to say about those athletes moving on.
Sophomore Send-off: Golf
The 2023 Cyclone golf team ended the fall season in the NJCAA Region IV tournament. They fought all season for a second place spot in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference with two players finishing in the top 10. Of the three sophomores, one still has eligibility to compete in the 2023 season. Coach Matt Lovelace is looking forward to getting his guys back on the links but is sad to see his sophomores go.
Sophomore Send-off: Women’s soccer
The 2023 Cyclone women’s soccer team had high standards to live up to. They ended the season with a 13-5 overall and 4-2 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference record finishing second in the region and conference. The sophomores were accustomed to championships and a run at nationals, and although they couldn’t help repeat that feat this season, they still put their all into every game for continued success and a No. 15 team ranking in the NJCAA. The Cyclones averaged 4.44 goals per game, tallied 80 goals and made roughly 23.5 shots per game. Head Coach Al Palar ended his fifth season with the Cyclones before being hired this spring as the head women’s soccer coach at the University of Saint Francis. Although he is moving on, he still had plenty to say about the sophomores continuing their soccer careers.
Good luck to graduating Cyclones
The hardest part about playing sports at Moraine Valley is that student-athletes only get two years to compete here before moving on. Some players will end their athletic careers after Moraine Valley while others will continue. This past spring saw athletes unable to play due to COVID-19, giving them additional eligibility to compete in 2021. Whatever they decide, the Cyclones have nearly 40 student-athletes moving on, and to that we say, congratulations! A few graduates have some things to say about their time as a Cyclone.
Sophomore Send-off: Women’s tennis
The Cyclone women’s tennis team had a successful fall, going 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference. They finished second by half a point at the NJCAA Region IV tournament, which qualified them for the national tournament that was scheduled to start May 4. First-year Head Coach Bre Vollan had a cohesive, energetic team to work with, including three sophomores who are moving on.

The 2023-20 Cyclone men’s basketball team finished their season with an overall 25-7 and 11-3 conference record. They were ranked 11th in the NJCAA Division II at one point, knocked down the No. 3-ranked team in the nation and earned a co-conference championship to top the season. The Cyclones saw plenty of success, especially for first-year Head Coach John Chappetto. He had plenty to say about his sophomores moving on.
